Terms of Use and Disclaimer
Effective October 15, 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses the free tools on evictionlegalcenter.com, including the landlord portal (properties, leases, rent statements, ledgers, late fees, reminders, documents, repairs, expenses and reports), the lease agreement builder and its disclosure pages, and the notices and forms available for download (together, the "Tools"). By creating an account or using the Tools, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Tools.
1. Not legal advice
The Tools, and every lease, notice, statement, letter, reminder or other document made with them, provide general information and fill in templates based on what you enter. They are not legal advice for your situation. Landlord and tenant law in California changes often and differs from city to city, and the right answer depends on facts the Tools do not know. Before you serve a notice, sign a lease or take any step that affects a tenancy, you should have the document and your situation reviewed by an attorney of your choice.
2. No attorney-client relationship
Creating an account, using the property management software, building a lease, downloading or filling in a notice, uploading documents, or sending messages or reminders through the Tools does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the Law Office of Madaen or any of its attorneys. An attorney-client relationship is created only by a signed written engagement agreement with our office. If you are already our client on a specific matter, your use of the Tools is not part of that representation unless your engagement agreement says so in writing, and we do not review information you enter into the Tools unless you ask us to and we agree in writing.
Information you enter into the Tools is not treated as a request for legal advice. Please do not rely on the Tools to tell us about a deadline or an urgent matter; call or email our office instead.
3. Free tools, provided as is
The Tools are offered free of charge, "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, legal sufficiency or uninterrupted service. We do not promise that any document made with the Tools is valid, enforceable, complete or current, or that it meets the requirements of your city, county or the courts.
4. You are responsible for your documents and actions
As the landlord or property manager, you are solely responsible for:
- the accuracy of everything you enter, including names, addresses, rent, payments, charges, dates and deposits;
- reviewing every lease, notice, statement and disclosure before you sign, serve, send or rely on it;
- choosing the right notice and serving it properly, and following state and local laws, including rent caps, just cause rules, relocation payments, fair housing and habitability requirements;
- every message, statement, text or email you send to tenants, handymen or others through or with the help of the Tools;
- keeping your own copies and records of your documents and data.
5. Calculations, deadlines and reminders
Balances, late fees, prorated amounts, deposit limits, rent cap checks, due dates and deadlines shown by the Tools are estimates based on the information you entered. Deadlines may not account for court holidays, the method of service or local rules. Automatic charges, emails and reminders may be delayed or fail to send. Always check the numbers and deadlines yourself before you rely on them.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Law Office of Madaen, its attorneys, staff and service providers are not responsible or liable for any legal dispute, claim, lawsuit, judgment, penalty, fine, attorney fees, lost rent, delay, damages or other loss of any kind that arises from or relates to your use of the Tools or of any document, calculation, message or reminder made with them, whether the claim is based on contract, negligence or any other theory, even if we were told such a loss was possible. If any liability is found despite these terms, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Tools will not exceed one hundred dollars ($100).
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Law Office of Madaen, its attorneys and staff from any claim, demand or lawsuit brought by a tenant, occupant, vendor, government agency or anyone else that arises from your use of the Tools, the documents you create or serve with them, or your management of your property.
8. Changes to the Tools and these terms
We may change, suspend or stop offering any part of the Tools at any time, with or without notice, and we may update these terms by posting a new version on this page. Continuing to use the Tools after a change means you accept the updated terms. Our privacy policy explains how we handle the information you enter.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute relating to the Tools or these terms will be brought in the state courts located in Orange County, California. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
10. Getting legal help
If you would like an attorney to review your lease, a notice or an eviction, you can request a free case review or email intake@evictionlegalcenter.com. We represent you only after we confirm there is no conflict of interest and you sign an engagement agreement.
